Robert ran 1 race with the team after the sale, the UAW-GM Quality 500 @ Charlotte, where he started 42nd, and finished 32nd~ He left the team following that race, and found a new ride, driving for Gary Bechtel in his #29 Cartoon Network Chevrolet~ Pressley ran the final 3 races of the season with the team, his best finish being a 33rd in the NAPA 500 @ Atlanta~
Pressley remained with the team for the start of the 1997 season, running 10 races, with a best finish of 14th in the Food City 500 @ Bristol~ He failed to qualify for 3 of those 10 races, (Atlanta, Fort Worth, Sonoma) and was let go following the 10th race of the season, (Winston 500 Talladega) after finishing 29th~ He wouldn't race again until the 25th race of the circuit, the CMT 300 @ Loudon, where he would finish dead last, driving Doug Bawel's #77 Japser Engines Ford~
Pressley going for a ride in the 1997 Daytona 500~
He finished out the season in the Jasper car, failing to qualify for the final race of the season, the NAPA 500 @ Atlanta, and having his best run in the AC Delco 400 @ Rockingham, where he finished 13th~ He ran the next 4 seasons with the team, and had a total of 3 top 5's, and 7 top 10's during that time~ Following the 2001 season, Pressley was let go from the team,~ He ran 1 more race in the Cup Series, the 2002 Daytona 500, driving for Mark Melling in his #92 Brand Source Dodge, where he qualified 31st, and finished 22nd, 10 laps down~
He attempted to qualify for the 2003 running of the Brickyard 400 @ Indianapolis, driving for Larry McClure's #4 Kodak Perfect Touch Pontiac, but failed to do so~ This was the last time Pressley was seen in the Cup Series~ In 2004, Pressley ran a full schedule in the former BGN series, netting 1 top 5, and 2 top 10's, driving Tad Geschickter's #47 Clorox/Wisk Ford~ He ran 6 races for the team the following season, failing to qualify for the CarQuest Auto Parts 300, and posting a season best 16th @ IRP, and Bristol~

I enjoyed all the different Cartoon Network cars, my favorite probably being Lake Speed's #9~ Again, for a RC car, this one is just popping with color and detail~ This paint scheme could still run today and look just as smooth and sleak as it did back in 1997~
Robert also ran 3 seasons in the Truck series, where he tallied 2 wins (both in 2002), 11 top 5's, and 10 top 10's, over the span of 69 races~ His Cup career ended after 9 years and 205 races, with 0 wins, 5 top 5's, and 11 top 10's~ His best was in the BGN series, where he finished his career there with 244 races ran, 6 poles, 10 wins, 38 top 5's, and 76 top 10's~ Below, I have attached some videos from Robert's career~ Thanks for stopping by the blog~

ReplyDeleteI've contacted Cartoon Network on Twitter several times, asking them to sponsor a car in NASCAR again.. but they never respond to me~ lol~ I loved their cars~
DeleteSometimes I wish Kevin Harvick would have ran the Cartoon Network car as the car was Kevin Harvick surrogate car for me for a while.
